Modern Food System Creating Unbeatable Army Of Superbugs

By Water Liberty February 04, 2019 0 comments

The age of antibiotic drugs is coming to an end because of the explosion of ‘superbugs’. The root cause of this problem is the massive overuse of antibiotics by the agricultural industry.

Today, 80% of all antibiotics used in the US is administered to livestock and for non-medical purposes, such as making the animals grow bigger faster.

The antibiotic residues in meat and dairy are a major source of human antibiotic consumption. These pharmaceuticals as well as the resistant bacteria, are then passed on to you in the foods you eat. For instance, 8 different antibiotics are allowed in cows milk. Eeek!

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) found antibiotic-resistant bacteria in 81% of ground turkey, 69% of pork chops, and 55% of ground beef in stores in 2011. superbug

Now many strains of bacteria are becoming resistant to even our strongest antibiotics resulting in a slough of deadly infections. According to the Antibiotic Resistance Threat Report, 2 million Americans become infected with antibiotic-resistant bacteria each year.

Nature has found a way around every antibiotic we’ve come up with so drug companies are beginning to abandon the development of new antibiotics because of their poor profit margins.

But there is a silver lining to all of this; luckily there is a lot you can do to prevent infection naturally.

Choose clean, whole foods, organically raised without antibiotics and preferably locally sourced. Antibiotics aren’t necessary when animals are raised properly in a healthy environment.

Take chicken farmer, Scott Sechler, owner of Bell & Evans, for example. He refuses to use drugs on his large-scale animal farm. Instead, he uses an herbal remedy of oregano oil and cinnamon (talk about innovation!), proving that we can manage without the routine administration of antibiotic drugs.

Garlic, cinnamon, oregano oil, echinacea, colloidal silver, lemon, munka honey (topical use), probiotics, and fermented foods are all powerful natural alternatives with antimicrobial function. These are excellent options to try before resorting to drugs.

And now for the icing on the cake…

Research has shown that bacteria do not develop resistance to these natural types of treatments.

Perhaps nature is smarter than most would like to think.
